Rafael Fuchs_short Bio and CV (2016)

Born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel

1984: BFA degree (with honors) at the “Bezalel Art Academy” in Jerusalem.

1984 Group show in Paris, “Young Creatives”, curated by Francois Hebel,

showing self portraits as an Israeli soldier in a real time war in Lebanon.

1985 moved to NYC.

1985-1993:  First award in portraiture by APA as well as additional awards from CA,    PDN,APA, AP, and more.

1993-2001: Portraits of influential people during the turn of the Millennium.

Numerous of his images were published in several different books, as Rolling Stone/Tattoo Nation (Bullfinch), My Favorite Model (Goliath), The Vibe History of Hip Hop (Three Rivers Press), 10 Years Of Dolce and Gabana (Jal.)

His works have been exhibited and collected by numerous public and private collections around the globe, as: Ashdod Museum, Israel ; elephant art, Zurich, Munger collection, NY and more.

In addition to his photography career Rafael founded a gallery in Bushwick (Bklyn, NY) , in 2012, titled Fuchs Projects, where he features his works as well as other artists.

His works from the series of : “Hope For Peace” (self portraits in Lebanon),  “911”, “Landlords” has gained significant publicity notices, and are considered by the press as “evocative and provocative”
